Q1: What I learned is that people use a high speed cameras, called the phantom camera that can capture 50000 frames per second.
Q2: No. I do not think that it is going to be a sport I'll be trying when I grow up or now.
Q3: Yes. People all over the world watching TV, or the web they think that it easy to jump on ice and think they would win if they compete. NO!!! The people who are competing in the Olympics are practicing ever day so that they know movement by movement.
Q4: Yes now I know that the people are really working hard to achieve what they want to achieve in life.

Q1: What I learned is that the ice skaters open there arms they get faster. And when the arms are in its slow.
Q2: It makes me learn that is not just jumping and putting your feet out its about balance and focus.
Q3: My idea of the athletes changed because I thought they open there arms for balance. But now I realize that that its to go faster.
Q4: You can really tell that skaters or any athlete take it serious to win the medal. They will do cool moves if they have too.

This video that I watched about snowboarding really interested me in snowboarding. I always loved to watch snowboarding, it was my amazing of all of the tricks they did. This video showed me the reasoning and math behind all of the tricks. If I could participate in any winter olympic I would choose snowboarding.
Before this video I didn't know all of the math and science behind all of the tricks. Now I know that the olympians don't just have practice the sport, they have to study about the sport. This really changed my mind and thoughts about the olympics. I really think that it is amazing how the ramps developed over the 16 years of the half pipe. This amazing video gave me more information about the half pipe event.

The air lift is a sport I would definitely try because it looks like a lot of fun. Seeing the video does make the sport easier to understand how the athlete does the sport because they explain all of the moves. My idea of the Olympics has changed ever since watching the video because I never knew how much science was in the Olympics. I never knew there was a camera called a phantom.
HAVE A GREAT VACATION!

Figure skating is a sport that I already do. I have always wondered how ice skaters make their skating look so effortless, so yes, the video did help. I was amazed at all of he different physics involved with jumping. My idea of the Olympics and the athletes, mostly the athletes though, have not changed.
Some additional thoughts that I have to share are, one, to turn 3 times in the air is very hard: most skaters can only accomplish about 2 and a half rotations. The last thought that I have to share was that I consider the phantom camera to be very high-tech, and I was astounded at how much it showed about the individual skater's jumps

HAVE A GREAT BREAK!!!!

The video that I watched was Figure out of Figure Skating. It was all about figure skating And I personally it is not a sport that I would want to try doing it my self. When i watched the video it made it a lot easier to understand how figure skaters do what they do in the Olympics. this was because it showed one very famous skater doing tricks in slow motion. My idea has changed a bit after seeing the video. There are no additional thoughts that I had about the video.

1: I think that figure skating looks interesting and I would like to give it a try some time.

2: This video helps mw understand the basics of what the different skaters do. I am still unsure about some of the stuff that they do.

3: My idea about the Olympics has not changed a lot after seeing this video. I still think it is cool to see how they do it.

4: Figure skating looks to be extremely difficult!

That sport would be a really good sport for me to try because it looks so cool when you go up in the air.
It does make it easier for me to see the sport because I always thought that when you get thrown in the air they use there feet out to balance themselves.
My idea changed of athletes because now I know they don't use there hands to balance themselves when there up in the air.
You can tell that skaters and athletes work really hard and get rewarded with a medal.

Question 1
No, after watching this video I don't think I'd really like to try the sport. I think this because I realized the athletes give up almost every thing in their life for the Olympic goal.
Question 2
Yes, after watching this video it did make it easier for me to understand how the athletes do this sport. I think this because I really learned a lot of their strategies like how they have to put their arms in if they want to jump higher off the ice ect.
Question 3
Yes, after watching this video my idea of the Olympic athletes changed. After watching this video I realized how much work they put in to their dream of the Olympics. They get up at 6:00 go to the staking rink then go to school from 7:00 to 12:00 and go back to the rink.
Question 4
Olympic science is really cool! GO USA!!!!!!! Have a nice break...

I would not like to try figure skating, even if I love skating very much. This video did make it easier for me to understand how figure skaters do their complicated twists and turns. My idea of the athletes has changed, because I got to learn how they do their work. I have no additional thoughts.

Lauren.B said...

Figure skating is a sport that I may want to try and it looks a lot of fun. Though, when the athletes were skating they make it look so easy and after watching this video I understand how they do it.
I would of never guessed that there were physics behind figure skating. For an example, skaters pull in their arms to spin longer. Or, how skaters use angular momentum to gain more speed and more height. After I watched this, my idea has changed about the Olympics and the athletes. Now, I realize that even though skaters make it look so effortless, they work really hard. Also, that there is more beyond the concept of just "doing ticks" on the ice.
I think this video was very cool and taught me a lot. I hope everyone is enjoying their break!!!

1) I think that figure skating look interesting but complicating for me.Is a lot easier to understand how figure skaters in the olympics.

2) YES, after watching this video it did make it easier for me to understand.I really learn new stuff but i dont think i would try.i will brake any piece of my body. i was amazed of the tricks they were doing in the ice.

3) My idea change because i learned new stuff on how they do there work and tricks.

4) its extremerly difficult.

enjoy your brake everyone and be safe[0_0]

Yes, it is a sport I might want to try. Seeing the video makes it easier to understand how the athletes do the sport. I never really watched the olympics and the athletes, but this has really changed my idea of the olympics, So I might watch it next year.

1)No I don't want to try this sport, it really didn't interest me.
2)Yes I now understand that it isn't as easy as i thought it would be.
3)No It didn't change.
4)It was really fun to watch the video.

I watched the video on Alpine Skiing and found it very interesting. It is a sport that I would like to try because I've always felt the need for speed. Seeing the video did make it easier to understand how athletes do it because at first I thought it would be easy because, well, they made it look easy but later in the video I realized it took years of practice to be able to do Alpine Skiing. Yes, this video has changed of the Olympics because now I know that it is very hard and that there is a lot of competition. I hope I will be in the Olympics one day.

Timothy M said...

I watched the video on figure skating. It is probably not a sport that I would want to try because there is so much science that is put into it and you need to practice a lot on timing, speed and skating in general. In the video, I could understand the sport better because I learned how the science shows how each part of the jumps and spins and everything else. I think that my view of the Olympics and the athletes have changed because from now on, when I think of figure skating, I will think of all of the physics that go into it.

Elsa B. said...

I watched the video on figure skating. After watching the video I would really love to try out that sport. Especially now that I know the physics behind it. Once I saw the video it made it so much easier to understand how the athletes did the sport. Before I could never understand how skaters were able to do turns. Honestly before watching this video I never had a single interest in the winter olympics. The video showed how interesting figure skating might be. Now while I watch figure skaters in the olympics, I can actually know the science behind it. This video has taught me the science behind figure skating, and has even inspired me to try something new. Great video.
HAVE A GREAT BREAK EVERYONE!

Ian SG said...

I think I would love to try Snowboarding, because the more risky and dangerous something is, the more attracted I am to it. For me atleast, the video was interesting, entertaining, and a tiny bit inspiring. Now that I understand how the sport works and how difficult it is, (thanks to the vid') I've gained more and more respect for the athletes. I realize how you do it, and that with science it's easier, but having the will to do it, now that's a ten out of ten. Rock on, stay safe, and have a great break

I watched the vidio on snowboarding and I learned a lot of cool stuff. Now I really want to try to do the half pipe just like Shaun White. I learned that the if the length is wider and if the walls are higher the riders get more momentum to do tricks. The vidio changedthe Olympics because now sice the riders will be doing awesome tricks ther will be way more closer scores. I hope I will be just like Shaun white and bring home a gold!

Carter K. said...

I chose the video of figure skating.
I found it interesting, but I wouldn't want to try it, because I've tried skating before, and I can barely move, so I don't even want to know what will happen if I try figure skating.
The video made me understand a little more about how Rachel figure skated. I knew about the velocities, but the law of conservation of angular momentum was new to me. I even tried in my chair, but it kept moving.
After I saw the video, my idea of Olympians changed. I thought it was just practice and brute force, but now I understand that there's a lot of science behind it.
Before, I thought that figure skating was just doing fancy stunts on skates, but now I know the truth.

JakubS said...

I watched the figure skating video. I would not want to try the sport because it looks very hard. Seeing the video does make it easier to understand how the the athletes do the sport because in the video the doctor talks about it and it shows how the girl practices. My idea of the Olympics and athletes has changed since watching the video because when I watch the Olympics on tv it looks easy, but in reality it is not. I never knew that when you would bring our hands like into a package and then you would spin faster.

ThaisMC said...

I watched a video about Figure Skating, and i learned a lot of different and interesting information about this sport. I really don't think this is a sport for me, so you will not find me on the ice. Yes it makes it easier to understand what they are doing. Like Angular Momentum helps when spins. When your hands are out you go slower and when there in you go faster.Yes the Olympics has changed a lot. Well it was so amazing how the skaters make there jumps and spins so effortless.

Q1: No I would not like to try this sport because I don't like ice skating.
Q2:Yes, seeing the video does make everything easier for me to understand how athletes do their sport. I never knew science was involve in this.
Q3: I have never thought about the Olympics or the athletes but the video was interesting to see. It was a bit confusing especially when the lady was trying to explain the science behind the jumps and lifts of the figure skater.

I watched the video on figure skating. Figure skating is my favorite event in the Olympics. After watching the video I realized that maybe I could do it, with practice. The video also helped explain how the athletes do the sport, like showing the physics behind what they are doing. Also, the video changed my mind about the athletes. I used to think that they just practiced, but now I see that the have to spend time and money on this sport, and will do almost anything to get to the Olympics.

1. Figure skating looks like an amazing sport, but I don't think I want to try it.

2. This video helped me understand a little bit more about figure skating that I would've never guessed, such as figure skaters having to open and close their arms to keep spinning.

3. After this video, my idea of the Olympics has not changed much. I've always known how hard it is to be in the Olympics since the last summer Olympics.

4. The Olympics involve more Science than I thought.

1)I watched figure out figure skating. It looks like an amazing sport, but I fall every second in ice skates so I'm not ice skater.
2)The video made it much easier actually. I understood ow they did the jumps but not how they spun forever. A after watching the video I used my spinning chair to test it out... success!
3)It has changed because at first I thought they like were using a magical force to make them spin, and now I actually know what the magical force is!
4)Figure skating has a lot of science!

Ice Skating is a sport I might want to start learning about. Even though I already know how to skate pretty well, there is still much to learn! I think that It made me understand the sport a little bit more by showing how the skaters do the amazing jumps. No, not necessarily. I think that I will always be learning new things about the Olympics but it will never cage my view or idea on them. My additional thought on the matter are: I think the Olympics should happen more often!!
Have Happy Break!

Figure skating is a very complex sport that requires stamina and adrenaline. This is a sport I definitely want to try. It's like dancing on ice while carving art into it. The video helped me have a more clear definition of what the sport is and how to do it. I now realize that the Olympics is not only getting a metal or not but also like a competition trying to get to the final and win! I really look forward to trying it as I learn how to ice skate today.

I watched the video on ice skating. At first I thought that this sport was super boring but then I watched the video and knew how much effort goes into each move. I don't think I will be trying this sport anytime soon because I am more in to kickflips instead of quads (skateboarding). It looks like a very hard sport because if you don't hold in your arms in the air you will fall. The science behind the sport has helped me understand the sport because I did not know that if you put your arms out it will slow your rotation.

I watched the video "Figure out Figure Skating". It was a great video. But for me Figure Skating is not a sport I would try. THis is because I am horrible at skating. When I saw the video "figure out Figure Skating" it did make it easier to understand how the athletes did it. I saw how they went in the air, how they spin faster. The video did help me understand how the athletes do the sport. When I saw the video, it did change my idea about the Olympics. No there is no additional thoughts that I have about the video.

I don't think i would like to compete in figure skating. I already ski and snowboard, and i really like those two sports. Seeing the video made it even more complicated. Now that I saw the video I feel more in awe of them. they have to do five different spins inthe whole show, and ten keep on skating, and they have just come out of a spin, and are probably very dizzy!

mr casal something is wrong with the videos. Every single one is skating. thought you should know.

I would like to try snowboarding. I have had snowboarding lessons. seeing the video makes me think its not as easy as it looks. it makes me think if they fall its because of the force thats weighs down on them. I think you need to practice a lot to get to the olympics.

Figure skaters seem to not have any effort in their spins but that is not true there is tons of science behind this amazing sport.
1) Personally I would not want to figure skate. When I was watching the figure skating I was sure that it would not turn out well if I attempted it.
2) Visually seeing every step of the way with the phantom camera and with the science behind it I clearly saw how figure skaters accomplish such things.
3) The idea of the Olympics has changed. For one I can see how much effort they put in this sport how muck passion.
4)I really enjoyed this video and wish everyone a great vacation.

Figure skating looks like a cool sport but I don't think I would want to try it. * Yes Figure Skating is a sport I would love to try someday.
* Yes watching the video made it easier for me to understand how the athletes do the sport. When the girl in the video explained that with her arms out it makes her go slower and with her arms crossed it makes her go faster and also that the only way to stop is by putting your feet down. She really explained the speed issue.
* No my idea of the Olympics has not changed by watching the video, because I always knew that they worked very hard at what they do.

The video I watched was Snowboard Half-pipe. First of all I already love snowboarding and doing the Snowboard Half-pipe would AWESOME! The way Shawn White was talking about it was really bland and did not really give any insight to about how he competes. My idea has changed. The competitors are getting even more "aggressive" and into the tricks. And the Olympics is helping them achieve their goal.

I do not really think I would like to figure skate. Ice skating is fun, but I like other sports like skiing or surfing better. I have wondered about the science was like behind the Olympics and this made it easier to understand how figure skaters skate. Figure skating is MUCH harder than it looks!

My idea about the athletes has changed a little. figure skating isn't an east sport. you need to work hard to do the tricks!

That camere that they used to video tape the figure skater was amazing. When I do stopmotion animation, I only have 12 frames a second!

Q3. The idea of the Olympics has not changed, even after watching the video. The Olympics to me is a great sporting event.

Q3: Yes. Before this video I had no idea hard it was to these moves. Thanks to this video I do. Really hard.
Q4: I like how they showed the spin move trick. When you spin to spin faster you putt your arms in instead of out.

Before watching the video I did the office chair thing. Isn't that a strange coincidence? Anyway it really works.

3.I saw a lot of the winter Olympics this year but mostly, I saw Bobsledding.

I was really disappointed because each link brought me to the same video...FIGURE SKATING!! To be honest I really don't like figure skating and wanted to watch the video about snowboarding.

This is not a sport I want to try although I do like ice skating. Figure skating looks very complicated and second, I would probably fall on the ice, a lot. I REALLY WANTED TO SEE SNOWBOARDING! That is a sport I want to try!

I watched the figure skating video. I am a pretty good skater but I do not want to try figure skating because I don't dance, and figure skating is like dancing. It looks pretty cool, though. The video helped me understand how figure skaters can have so much speed and balance. My idea of the Olympics has not changed.

I would go figue skating, after seeing all the videos. Old do that. It is really about having balance and being graceful. I would like to learn the rules because I would not want to hurt my self In front of anybody!

I chose one of the video,s and I chose Snowboarding. Snowboarding is a difficult winter sport, though it is somehow like skiing. ( i had experience with skiing ) and now I know how fun and - at the same time -dangerous snowboarding is. What I learned from the video is that snowboarding can be filled with excitement and entertainment when you know how to control what you are doing. Stay safe, be awesome, and enjoy yourself.
